Our ideal world

Our oceans cover 70% of the planets surface and host more than 700,000 unique species, wich is equivalent to 20% of all organisms on planet earth. Furthermore they absorb about 25% of the worlds CO2 emissions and are responsible for some of the most vital natural phenomenas. That is why we have made it our responsibility to do everything in our power to protect them.

For a balanced life on earth we need our oceans to stay as they have been for the past 3.8 billion years. Unfortunately, their ecosystems alternate quickly nowadays. In the past 50 years the temperature of the oceans has changed drastically and by now reached marks that are far beyond natural. Many species disappear and pollution leads to the loss of habitats and lives of millions of organisms each year. At the rate of destruction we are progressing at right now, our oceans could be dead in less than 100 years, thats just 0,000000000026% of the total lifespan of our oceans. But there are ways how we can preserve the oceans, it’s up to us to make a change.

We can start to try to tackle the problem from several sides, but we need to start somewhere. Whether you change your lifestyle completely, away from mass consumerism or simply reduce your waste, every individual commitment helps to achieve greater good. We make sure to know how consumer goods get to us and where our rubbish goes after we dispose it. Even the smallest changes to our life can have a huge impact. Take water bottles as an example if you have a reusable metal or glass bottle compared to new PET bottles on average you are able to prevent 50 bottles from ending up in nature. The adaptation to reusable packaging is a necessity and can save the lives of thousands of organisms. All changes to your lifestyle and the way of consumption today, will not change the past though, meaning the 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic remain in our oceans. These need to be disposed correctly and at any cost to win the fight against the disappearance of marine life.

It is our duty to make a change. As sailors the oceans and waters of our world mean everything to us and the continuous contact with them has shown us repetitively how important it is to keep them clean and healthy. Whenever we have the chance we clean up the waters of our world and we are not ignoring a single piece of plastic. We are determined to preserve our marine ecosystems and fully committed to dispose the rubbish in the oceans properly. We, the Zschech Baumann racing team are cleaning the beaches and waters of the world on every occasion. We can not continue the interacting with the oceans the way we do today. We need to give our oceans the break they deserve. They are the reason life functions on earth and we must do anything to keep them the way they are.
