Activities

Sailors Clean was founded by Leander Baumann from ZB Racing in January 2023 when he repeatedly noticed the pollution in and around the Mediterranean. Since then the community and initiatives have constantly been growing. Sailors Clean is a place where ocean lovers find a community, but also an organisation with the mission to make a change. Whether we educate on pollution and solutions, orchestrate CleanUps, help events become more sustainable or give old sails a new life, we constantly are focused on making a change.

Wanted Sails was initiated in January 2024 and collects donations of old sails. After collecting dozens of bags of plastics in single use plastic bags (mostly found during the very same cleanups), we developed the idea of producing reusable CleanUp bags made from old sails. Sails are one of the most durable materials there are since they are made to withstand the strongest powers of nature. If you want to help prevent your old or broken sail from lying around or ending up in landfill, click the link to donate your sails for a good cause.

A Bag A Day is an initiative we have started to make a change on an individual scale. The challenge is collecting a bag of plastic per day of sailing. ZB Racing has committed to this challenge and in Vilamoura alone collected more than 2000 litres of plastic from the Mediterranean coast.

New Tue is the short version of News Tuesday. Every second Tuesday Sailors Clean educates on the oceans pollution, good news, solutions or environment. Follow our Instagram or Newsletter to receive the newest ocean information.

Recently we have launched the Sailors Clean Shop. Community merchandise, upcycled accessories such as the 45L CleanUp bag or Necessaires can be purchased to fund environmental projects. for each product the customer can decide if he or she would like to donate 5% above the price to an ocean charity.
