German championship

After a successful upgrade into the standard rigg, we headed to the German championships near Munich. Leading up to our first regatta in the big rigg we simply had 8 days on the water so the expectations were low. However lake Starnberg, the venue is known for its light and shifty winds, shedding hope for a successful regatta.

On the first day we sailed two races. In the first race we had to clear a start penalty, forcing us to attack the fleet from behind and finishing 6th. The second race of the day saw extremely light winds and a second place for us, putting us in 3rd place overall.

During the next to days we waited for wind that did not come, leaving us with only two sailed races. On the final day though, winds of up to 19 knt brought upon exiting racing. Although we could not quite keep up with the more experienced and heavier teams, we took along many learnings and are looking forward to our upcoming competitions in this super friendly fleet of young sailors.
