Lake sailing in Berlin

Due to miscommunications our boat stayed in Munich instead of arriving in Kiel, which spontaneously changed our plans. We wanted spend four days at the Baltic coast, training with the locals, but ended up training and prepping our boat in Berlin. Of course it was nice spending some time on home waters, but the only reason why we decided to do it.

The next upcoming event is the Junior European Championship. A venue with very similar wind phenomenons as Wannsee and an importance to adjust to the changing conditions quickly. We decided that lake sailing would be the best preparation and put a focus on speed, adjusting to gusts and learning when to maneuver when the wind changes its direction.

Furthermore we left our boat in our home club, taking the advantage of a good network of coaches, infrastructure, materials for repair and boatwork. Moreover we met a lot of friends and had a blast staying at home with our families during the time.

On Saturday Leander‘s Club BSV hosted a club fest where we participated in sailing, showcasing what the 49er skiff looks like in action. After that we celebrated until late in the club and had a great time.

Now it’s all focus on the upcoming events and we are ready to give it our all.
