New Year, new activities
From the 27th of December onwards, we started our third training block in Vilamoura, Portugal. We were joined by Krause-Tolzmann sailing, Krause-Rackow and the Sach brothers, which delivered competitive training conditions. Furthermore we got the chance to train with Slavek, an experienced skiff coach we could learn a lot from.
In various conditions we sailed on the Atlantic Ocean and shared the race course with plenty of dolphins. During training our focus was primarily laid on speed testing, starting and close situations during racing. We noticed progress immediately and could tell it was great to get a different coach’s perspective on some reappearing issues.
Besides sailing we got the chance to test our self made cleanup bag made from an old Optimist North Sail. We stayed consistent and kept cleaning more than a bag each day. Though the 45L size often was hard to fill, it was an incredible feeling to see each bag fill itself over time and knowing you make an impact. It is an important project for us to produce reusable cleanup bags, since it’s a lot more sustainable and efficient. Ultimately we can also measure our impact now, which is a great advantage in documentation. We are more than happy with our progress and can’t wait to continue here in one month’s time.
