3 weeks training and Portugal GP2

Our final block of training in Vilamoura started off well with sunny days and optimal winds. We rented an apartment together with Krauss Suemmchen sailing near the port which meant we could reach everything well. After a week though, with the first storm coming in, we had disease spreading through our apartment, with each of us sick at least once. Luckily, big waves made it almost impossible to sail anyways. We determined the issue had been the food and were thereafter extremely careful with what we bought.

Big waves held us from sailing a second time, but all in all we managed to collect loads of hours on the water. Leander had to fly home for a presentation in Uni, but came back one day before the Portugal Grand Prix 2.

We started the regatta on a wrong foot, breaking our lower shrouds and forstay. Nevertheless we managed to get back on the water quickly and not miss a single race. Anyhow we had difficulties on the first day with stronger winds and hardly any wind shifts to catch up. During the next few days, small mistakes continued to make it hard for us to perform. Happily we could end the regatta and our time in Portugal though with a 3rd place on the last day during the strongest winds yet. Now we are hungry for more and moving on to Palma.
